We at Great Dunmow Primary School have embraced the work that Valerie does within Mumbai and India.

Valerie Mulcare-Tivey began her medical career in 1981, with a mixture of nursing and first aid. In 1995 it seemed logical for Valerie to add First Aid Instructor to her steadily growing list of qualifications, motivated by the need to nurture and share. A planned trip to Mumbai in 1998 and events during that trip gave birth to the idea of further helping vulnerable children and youths, facilitated through her particular skill areas. Hence she qualified as an advanced instructor in 1998, seeking more ways in which to help the children. For personal growth, she is involved with the Essex Ambulance Service First Response scheme on a voluntary basis.

Valerie makes regular visits to our school and talks with the children about her experiences in India, she recently came to see the children in Year 4, who then as part of their Literacy work wrote letters to Valerie, (delightful responses from Mumbai Mummy - Valerie embraces every child!).  We have a notice board in the library area where photos are displayed to the whole school.  Your generous donations at both our refreshments stall at Christmas performances and our Church Service all went towards the charitable work Valerie does.

Richard (yr3) and Samuel (yr2) recently helped decorate our charity Christmas Tree at The United Reform Church, it was thanks to their decorative skills that not only additional money was raised but also promoting awareness to the plight of those in Mumbai.

This page will be updated when Valerie gets in touch with us again - obviously appreciating she is one very busy but dedicated lady.
