Nick Clegg - leader of the Liberal
Democrats was represented by Sian O'Rourke. Sian informed us of the LibDems
belief in 'fairness'. Wanting a 'greener' Britain. Provide schools with
enough money to ensure children are taught in smaller groups. Removing
university fees - to ensure all have the opportunity to further their
education. The LibDems say NO to nuclear power and improve the Armed Forces.

The outcome from our KS2 assembly was as
follows:-
Conservative – 106
Liberal Democrats – 53
Labour – 50
We therefore avoided a hung parliament by 3 votes. Thank you to Richard,
Sian and Eleanor and especially Miss. Johnson who entertained us once again
on what can be a very challenging subject!
In Year 5 Charlie was certainly ensuring
secrecy in his vote whilst Rosalin considerd those options one last time.
Keen voters from Year 4 - Frankie and
Harley (below) add their votes to the ballot box.
In true political style the end of the
'meeting' was somewhat disruptive - although not with the supporters
heckling the politicians but the representing politicians continuing to
'beg' for additional support - waving their manifesto and party colours -
reinforcing party promises - BUT would any of it help? With the mock
elections only minutes away - time will tell!
Many of the children
were impressed by the promises set out years ago in the Manifesto by Lord
Sutch and the Monster Raving Loony Party!
Representing the Conservative Party -
Richard Andrews (pictured to the right) talked about the problems within
society caused as they believe by the Labour Party being in power. They
pledged to give people more choice about their healthcare. He promoted their
proposal of providing each household with £6,500.00 to spend on improving
their energy efficiency.
Representing the Labour Party - Eleanor Breeze (pictured to the right)
talked to KS2 about the Education promise the Party are proposing, along
with Health related issues and how they will improve our environment.
Election Special
Miss. Johnson gave an awesome assembly
today to help the children understand more about the Election Day, and the
fact that our school was being used as a Polling Station.
